Letterpress Printing on Seed Paper – A rough and unrehearsed iphone video.

There are a couple of things we do a lot of here at Bloomin, we make a lot of plantable paper, and we print on a lot of seed paper.
We print using three methods:
1) Offset printing, it’s fast, easy, (sort of) and fairly cheap. Unfortunately, all that pressure kills off a lot of seeds.

2) Inkjet printing, it’s slow, problematic, frustrating, and ink cost a fortune, but it looks great, the ink is very eco, and no seeds are damaged in the process.

3) Letterpress printing, it’s old school work, so-so speed, a lot of set up and clean up, very challenging to do a good job, really fun unless the job is super long. The only seeds that are killed are where the ink is laid down because the get squished, and the ink is soy-based, and quite eco.
